    Clifford School is the oldest government English school in the state of Pahang and it was founded in 1913. At that time, it had only been a palm-roofed wooden house at Jalan Besar, Kuala Lipis town. VN Bartlett who comes from Ceylon was the founder and first principal this school.

    In 1919, a building was constructed in the middle of the field school, but it was destroyed in 1926 due to floods. In 1928, a two-story brick building was constructed. Sir Hugh Clifford, who was Governor of the Straits Settlements and High Commissioner for the Federated States officiated this building and named the building as Clifford School.
